Lost and Found: A Study of the Discarded
My bewilderment by the mass of forgotten items left at the Hosmer Elementary School lost and found table was the impetus for the meticulous process I began of documenting, collecting, and organizing the items in an attempt to make sense of the material waste. 603 “lost” items were collected and catalogued during the 2015/2016 school year. It is my hope that through this project the physical mass of what was lost by just one school community during the course of a year can bring awareness and mindfulness to our children regarding their personal belongings.
